1966
Self-study using brand-X drums and records of popular music, rock-n-roll, swing, ballads, easy-listening, etc. Played alto saxophone in school band until 1972
1968
Played organ at this time (I still possess my original Hammond, E-100). High school marching band (saxophone) and more formal study of music. At this age of 14, drums, keyboard and alto sax were quickly developing formative experiences as performances expanded beyond the local high school bands.
1969 - 1970
Switched to double-bass drums - used Pearl-brand set. Continued saxophone in school bands, music theory in high school and some opportunity to play drums in school bands. Played drums with bands and misc. musicians in Milwaukee, Wis. primarily at private parties and special events.
Also: ...was the solo organist at the Riverside Theatre (old vaudevillian Warner Bros. theatre), Milwaukee, WI, with 4 to 10 shows weekly. PICTURE This theater today is the Riverside Theater on Wisconsin Ave.
1970 - 1972 [ TOP ]
Played private parties and clubs (lied about my age) in Detroit, MI, and the surrounding area, - followed by St. Louis, MO, and Evansville, IN. Graduated high school in 1972 in St. Louis, Mo. and was the orchestra and band student-conductor for the area school districts.
1973-1974
Acquired greatly improved equipment, state-of-the-art pedals, improved hardware and Ziljian cymbals. I built my Slingerland set in 1974 (see picture gallery). Began college in 1973 at Indiana State University and continued in Vineland, NJ in 1974. After using personal compositions for organ as audition(s), I continue my musical training majoring in theory and composition at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) at Glassboro, NJ. Continued to play clubs and such with local bands and misc. musicians.

...regional tours - (Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Cherry Hill, Wildwood, etc. - New Jersey, Pennsylvania & Delaware) and also played with the Steamrollers band. Played local clubs (drums) six nights a week with miscellaneous bands and musicians, some "original" music with local artists and studio recording.
Also continued formal music training with primary focus on theory, analysis and composition. Study included voice, piano, violin, cello, oboe and bassoon, clarinet, trombone, acoustical theory, composition and more.
1976

1977 - 1982 [ TOP ]
In 1977 expanded the Slingerland set to a double bass (gallery), added more cymbals and misc. percussion and travel equipment. (At this time, schooling continued along different lines, not in music).
Co-founded the Stone Broke band in Houston, Texas, doing 2-3 shows weekly. This band grew to include roadies, light and sound personnel, a portable stage for local travel, and special effects. Music included country, rock-n-roll, R&B, ballads and more.
1983 - 1989
In 1983 Stone Broke reformed with several new musicians including horns and two female back-up singers. Dr. Galloway (drums) and Joe Campos (keyboard, bass and rhythm guitar) continued as original members, playing 2-3 shows per week in the greater Houston area.
1987: Received his
Doctor
of Education degree from University of Houston.
1989: Moved to Indiana: Professor of Education at Indiana
University NW.
1992 - 1997 [ TOP ]
Played with the Steel Rose band in NW Indiana. While this band focused primarily on country music, the sound was more progressive and included a strong rock feel. In addition to modern country, the repertoire included oldies, rock-n-roll, ballads and occasional R&B songs. Once Steel Rose disbanded at the start of 1997 (at the end of Dr. Galloway's 30 year anniversary), he worked with the Most Wanted Band and Headliner: Joy Castle throughout Northern Indiana and SW Michigan.
1997 - 2002
Dr. J. joined Ernie Givens and the White Lies
Band in the Fall of '97. The band performed heavily throughout
Northern Indiana, SW Michigan and Chicago.

1998 - March [ TOP ]
The Slingerland drumset, is completely refinished (relaminated) in a new color: -eoriginally pure white... now: Slingerland White Marine Pearl. The work was performed by the Jack Lawton Drum Co., Sunbury, Pennsylvania. The results were perfect. After almost 24 years this drumset looks and sounds brand new.
1998 - Summer
The Slingerland drumset now includes a full sound system. All drums have mic's (11) and everything runs through a Makki 16 channel mixer board. This turned out to be vital for meeting the quality and amplification for the bigger shows.

Mary passed away. Mary, my wife, took good care of the band and was known as the band babysitter, a well-earned title as she was always there looking out for all of us.
With me for 49 years, attended most every show. I will not recover from her loss. And from the band.... Rest in Peace Mama.Covid-19 wipes out most of the 2020 year. The band does only 1 show on July 4. The Jerry Galloway Show manages some summertime outside patio-style shows...- better than nothing. I focus mainly on recording.

Covid-19 continues through the first quarter of the year. With proof of vaccine, The Jerry Galloway Show resumes full-time at end of APRIL doing 15-20 shows per month, - a heavy summer schedule.
Performed weekend at Geenies in Gering, Nebraska, with the Outriders Country Music Show.
REUNION shows: Ernie Givens and the White Lies Band - June 4th & 5th - and again July 23rd - in NW Indiana and Bass Lake, IN.
.... The last show up against a concert with 25 South Band back in Aurora, Colorado, the next day. > Busy weekend.
September 11th: Performed with Lo Becker and the Becker Band in Lakewood, Colorado - at Eck's Saloon (now closed).

Lost Dan England who passed away due to Covid-19, former guitarist with Glenn Miranda and myself as The Three Amigos (2004) playing around Northern Indiana.

Lost Rob Carroll who passed away from a heart attack early this year. He, as an excellent lead guitarist, along with Bryan Johnson and myself, formed the country music band, 25 South (2014-current) playing throughout the central Colorado corridor.
Performed show with Blinker-Fluid, perhaps the #1 party band in Denver, at the Takoda Tavern in Parker, Colorado.

The Jerry Galloway Show is back in the full swing of things after 3 bad "Covid" years. Likewise, Jerry's recording agenda is still productive with new CD's completed and planned.
Jerry has teamed with Nathalie Defferard (a colleague since 2013) starting a new country music band: All Hat - No Cattle
New Year's Eve '23
Jerry was invited to play for a new Motown band in Ft. Meyrs, Florida. We were backing the front man singer: Motown - Ross Brown.That all went very well, With no rehearsals or time to workout anything more than a set list, we were reportedly the bet band the Lexington Country Club had ever had. - a lot of work but complete success. Thanks to Wes England for putting this together.

Jerry is spending time recording and updating his repertoire for The Jerry Galloway Show still very active throughout the central Colorado corridor.
